Create Y2 Hub blog. Link Y1 hub blog to it. Add a page: Unit 11

TASK ONE

Decide on a creative media area that interests you most

(put all work on a Unit 11 page on your blog, put question above answer)

Get it checked and signed off before moving on to...

TASK TWO

Investigate a range (3-5) of jobs in that area

Explain what you found in your own words

Get it checked and signed off before moving on to...

TASK THREE

Investigate a range of university courses (or apprenticeships)

Explain what you found in your own words

Get it checked and signed off before moving on to...

TASK FOUR

Decide on top three jobs and top three university courses (or apprenticeships) that would best suit you

Explain why

TASK FIVE

Using a criteria of your choice (eg out of 10, with 10 being excellent and 0 being terrible)

Grade each uni course on

Chance of getting work afterwards

Cost of course & cost of living in the area

How enjoyable the course seems

Skills the course teaches you

Summarise your findings

TASK SIX

Create a letter of application for work experience, using appropriate letter format.

Adapt to email format.

Get it checked and signed off before moving on to...

TASK SEVEN

Create an application for uni or apprenticeship. If you are not going to university that's fine. However, it's really useful getting Progress Coach help on this, they are here to help you and you might find you change your mind later so it's good to be prepared.

TASK EIGHT

Do a SWOT analysis of skills you have and skills you need to pursue a media career. Colour code each.

TASK NINE

Working in a small group of 2-4 create a short media product (doc, motion info-graphic, magazine article, section of podcast) helping students decide on the best progression routes after Long Road for different types of people (eg those who are interested in animation vs filmmaking, or those who haven’t a clue what they want to do!)

Make it as engaging/entertaining as you can. You are likely to make a better media product if you plan it properly, so do pre-production work if necessary.

TASK TEN

Do a short reflection on what you learned in the project. Issues you faced, and how you resolved them. Use the Gibb’s reflection cycle.
